Boeing: Major Order and Positive Signals from China – Paris in Focus

Boeing recorded a remarkable number of 303 gross orders in May 2025, signaling strong demand in the aviation sector. This development is particularly encouraging as it indicates sustained growth in business, especially ahead of the Paris Air Show.

Major Orders and Bookings

A standout aspect of these orders is the mega-deal with Qatar Airways, which includes 130 Dreamliner 787s and 30 long-haul jets of the 777X model. However, Boeing has officially recorded only 120 Dreamliner orders so far, without further clarification for the discrepancy. Additional orders came from leasing company AviLease, which ordered 20 737 Max aircraft, as well as from WestJet, which placed an order for seven aircraft, two of which were canceled.

Deliveries and Order Book

Boeing delivered 45 aircraft in May, marking the fifth consecutive month with over 40 handovers. The order book has risen to 5,943 aircraft. These continuous deliveries and increasing demand are positive indicators for Boeing’s business.

Positive Signals from China

Although deliveries to China have remained stalled due to ongoing trade disputes, there are positive signs for a potential resumption. A Boeing 737 Max recently landed in China, which could indicate an imminent resumption of deliveries. This development could be crucial for Boeing to regain a foothold in the Chinese market.

Market Impact and Business Growth

The positive developments at Boeing could affect both the markets and business growth. The upcoming Paris Air Show provides a platform to further amplify this momentum and seize new business opportunities. However, Boeing faces competition from Airbus, which is also expecting extensive orders from China, potentially altering the competitive landscape further.

Competition with Airbus

Airbus is facing a potential mega-deal in China that could encompass up to 500 aircraft. This order would further strengthen Airbus’s position in the Chinese market and pose additional challenges for Boeing. China’s decision to turn to Airbus also reflects the ongoing trade tensions between China and the United States.

Overall, Boeing’s strong order number in May portrays a positive outlook for the company, while the upcoming Paris Air Show and developments in the Chinese market remain in focus.
