Semperit AG Adjusts EBITDA Forecast Due to US Tariffs

Background of the Adjustment

Semperit AG Holding has adjusted its EBITDA forecast for the year 2025 due to the impacts of US tariff policy and a declining global order activity. The new estimate now lies in the range of 65 to 85 million euros, representing a decrease from the original forecast of 70 to 90 million euros.

The adjustment is a response to the tariffs imposed by the US on imports, as well as a general decline in orders. These factors have particularly affected the Semperit Industrial Applications Division, where additional costs and a decrease in volume are expected. In 2024, the US market contributed about 76 million euros to a total revenue of approximately 676.6 million euros.

Market Conditions and Corporate Strategy

In addition to the adjustment for 2025, Semperit has also suspended its medium-term targets. The original target of an operational EBITDA of about 120 million euros for the year 2026 has been postponed due to high uncertainties regarding further protectionist measures and the timing of an economic recovery.

The current market situation forces Semperit to make temporary capacity adjustments. Especially in the Engineered Applications Division, order activities remain subdued. However, CEO Karl Haider emphasized the company’s progress in a challenging economic environment and pointed to successful cost-cutting measures as well as strategic realignments within the company.

Overall, this development highlights not only the challenges posed by external factors such as tariff policy but also the necessity for companies like Semperit to respond flexibly and continuously adjust their strategies. Investors should closely monitor these developments as they may have significant implications for the future performance of a DAX company.
