Global Wealth Report 2024: North America Drives Growth

Growth of Global Wealth

The latest Global Wealth Report from UBS impressively shows that global private wealth increased by 4.6% in 2024, reaching a total value of approximately $470 trillion. Particularly noteworthy is the growth in North America, which, with a rise of 11.4%, significantly outpaces other regions. In comparison, wealth in the Asia-Pacific region grew by 2.9%, while Europe, the Middle East, and Africa recorded a lower growth of only 0.4%.

Wealth Rankings

Switzerland continues to lead the rankings for average wealth per adult, followed by the USA. In 2024, the average wealth per adult in Switzerland was around $687,000, while it was slightly below this in the USA. Germany ranks 19th with an average wealth of $257,000.

Impacts on Private Investors

Strong financial markets, particularly the US stock market, contributed to wealth creation and could encourage private investors to adjust their strategies towards these markets. North America also saw a 7.3% increase in High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), indicating an increasing concentration of wealth. Given the regional differences in wealth growth, investors should consider global diversification to benefit from various growth areas.

Forecasts for the Future

UBS forecasts continuous growth in average wealth per adult over the next five years, especially in the USA, China, Latin America, and Oceania. Private investors would be well advised to prepare for these trends and optimize their investment strategies accordingly to fully leverage the potential of the expected growth regions.

In summary, the report underscores North America’s central role in global wealth growth and highlights how different regions are evolving. Investors should closely monitor these trends to optimally adjust their investment strategies.
