Stock Rotation in SDAX and TecDAX: What Investors Need to Know

The stocks of 1&1 are being removed from the SDAX and TecDAX indices. The major shareholder United Internet has increased its stake in 1&1 to over 85 percent, which according to the rules of the German stock exchange results in an exclusion from these important stock indices.

New Additions to the Indices

In the SDAX, 1&1 will be replaced by Verve Group, a newcomer to the index. The Swedish company operates a software platform for online advertisement placements and is also listed on the Stockholm stock exchange.

The TecDAX sees the photovoltaic specialist SMA Solar from Hesse as a replacement for 1&1.

What Does This Mean for Investors?

  • Funds and ETFs that track the SDAX or TecDAX must adjust their portfolios and sell the shares of 1&1.
  • Investors should check how heavily their investment is weighted in these indices and what impact the replacement may have on their portfolio.
  • With the inclusion of Verve Group and SMA Solar, new sector factors (advertising technology and renewable energies) are entering the indices, which could change the risk profile.

These changes will take effect on Friday, July 11, 2025.
