Brenntag SE has lowered its EBITA forecast for the year 2025. Originally, an operational EBITA of 1.1 to 1.3 billion euros was expected, but the company now anticipates results between 950 million and 1.05 billion euros.
Background of the Adjustment
This adjustment is primarily due to several factors:
- Exchange rate developments since early April, which already had significant negative impacts in the second quarter.
- Geopolitical uncertainties.
- An overall weak market environment characterized by sluggish demand and increased price pressure in various end markets.
Financial Impacts in Detail
In the second quarter of 2025, the preliminary operational EBITA stood at only 246.4 million euros, down from 297.1 million euros in the same quarter of the previous year. Operational gross profit fell from 1.03 billion to about 974 million euros. For the first half of the year, Brenntag also reported a decline: EBITA dropped from around 557 million to approximately 511 million euros.
This forecast reduction is relevant for investors, as it significantly corrects expectations regarding the financial performance of a major DAX company, which can potentially impact the stock price and valuation.
The complete half-year report will be published on August 13, 2025.
